Liquor License Training Scotland

Liquor License Training Scotland

We have been involved in Scottish liquor license training since the introduction of the new licensing Act for Scotland back in September 2009. The PLT group process thousands of personal licence applications every year throughout the United Kingdom. We are key training providers for both Scottish SCPLH and English APLH personal licence holder qualifications.

We currently hold weekly liquor license training courses every week in Edinburgh and Glasgow for the SQA approved liquor licensing qualification known as the Scottish Certificate for Personal License Holders (SCPLH) level 6. This licensing qualification is accepted by all Scottish Licensing Boards and will allow the holder to apply for a alcohol/liquor personal license.

We also hold regular monthly courses in Aberdeen, Ayr, Dundee and Inverness.

Once granted a personal liquor license will allow the holder to sell or authorise sales of alcohol under a premise license or occasional license. The license will also allow the holder to named on a premise license as the acting Designated Premises Manager (DPM).

The Designated Premises Manager (DPM) is responsible for the lawful running of a licensed premises and a premises can not legally trade without a Designated Premises Manager named on the premise license.

The Designated Premises Manager is also responsible for ensuring all staff involved in the retail service or sale of alcohol have undertaken training on the prescribed 16 units of training required by the licensing(Scotland)Act 2005. The Designated Premises Manager must ensure a record of staff training is kept on the premises, this record is open for inspection by an officer of the Licensing Board.

An ideal learning tool for supervisors and premises managers is our online course the Scottish Certificate for Licensed Premises Staff (SCLPS). This comes with a certificate of training and you can also download a FREE staff training record. This online course covers all 16 units of training prescribed by the 2005 Act.
