SCPLH Licence Training in Scotland
To sell alcohol in Scotland you need to obtain a personal licence, these are issued by Scottish licensing Boards in Scotland. There are 32 local Authorities in Scotland that issue personal liquor licences. To obtain a licence you are required to take a licensing qualification known as the Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (SCPLH) Level 6. Upon successful completion of a one day training course and SQA approved examination you will be able to apply to your local Licensing Board for a personal licence. This allows you to sell and authorise SCLPS trained staff to sell alcohol by retail.
SCPLH refresher training is required every 5 years and once issued your personal licence is valid for 10 years.
